W pracy zwrócono uwagę na dwa podstawowe problemy, które należy brać pod uwagę podczas projektowania al o dużych rozpiętościach przęseł. Są nimi bezpieczeństwo i ekonomika. Podano podstawy półprobabilistycznej metody wymiarowania konstrukcji stalowych. Omówiono odpowiednie zalety i wady różnych schematów statycznych, rodzajów przekrojów poprzecznych ustrojów nośnych oraz gatunków stali. Szczególną uwagę poświęcono zasadom stosowania niezbędnych stężeń hal oraz ich obliczaniu.

The basic problems which have to be considered in design procedure of long-span building halls have been pointed out. There are safety conditions and economics. The basics of semiprobabilistic methods of dimensioning of steel structures have been given. The appropriate advantages and disadvantages of different static schemes, kinds of cross-sections of structural elements and grades of structural steel as well have been discussed. A particular attention has been paid to the both calculation and rules of necessary bracings’ application in the considered hall buildings.
